In this article, we explore the fascinating history of Veggie World, its impact on the vegan community and the upcoming editions.

The origins of Veggie World

Hendrik Schellkes
Hendrik Schellkes, founder of Veggie World

Veggie World was founded in 2011 in Wiesbaden, Germany, by Hendrik Schellkes. At the time, the range of vegan products on offer was limited and often relegated to a niche market. However, Schellkes believed in a future where veganism would not only be accepted but celebrated.

The first Veggie World was enthusiastically received, attracting a diverse audience of committed vegans, the curious and the sceptical. The event provided a platform for emerging companies and established brands to showcase their vegan products, from meat and cheese substitutes to animal-friendly cosmetics and clothing.

Building on the success of the first event, Veggie World quickly expanded to other German cities before conquering Europe and, eventually, the whole world.

Veggie World means over 30 venues worldwide*, 4,200 exhibitors and more than 250,000 visitors since its launch!

The Impact of Veggie World

Over the years, Veggie World has become much more than just a trade show. It has become a meeting place for the vegan community, a space where like-minded individuals can come together, exchange ideas and celebrate their way of life.

The event also helped to democratise veganism among the general public, making it accessible, fun and modern. More and more people have been made aware of the benefits of veganism for their health, the environment and animal welfare thanks to their participation in Veggie World.

Veggie World also played a crucial role in promoting innovation in the field. Many brands used the event as a springboard to launch new products and test their reception with the public: alternatives to animal products, cosmetics and fashion accessories.

Immersion in the life of the future

These events promise to offer an immersive experience into the world of veganism, with cooking demonstrations, inspiring talks, innovative product stands and much more. Whether you’re a committed vegan, curious or just looking for new experiences, Veggie World is the place to discover all that the vegan lifestyle has to offer.

We salute this achievement and wish the exhibition a very long life!
